When it comes to a website, the header image is like the first handshake. It sets the tone for everything that follows. My header image, which embodies the Coquette fashion aesthetic intertwined with pink tones and doll-like makeup, perfectly captures my blog's essence on cosmetic and fashion marketing. This header not only reflects my interests but also aligns with the desires of my target audience: individuals eager to embrace trends in beauty and style. By using a dreamy blend of grunge effects and soft blurs, I invite visitors into a world where elegance meets modernity, effectively meeting their information needs by establishing a relatable context right off the bat.

Finding source images were hard. Finding ones that I assumed were able to be legally used was at the top of the list, but I believe by searching through Pinterest and trusted sites like Unsplash, I was able to find the perfect photos.

The production process was both creative and technical! To create my multi layer image, I used techniques described in Lev Manovich's article on new media aesthetics. I layered various elements, like textures from vintage photos over vibrant colors, to achieve vintage vibes and richness. The blurred effect shows hints of dreamy nostalgia while still maintaining clarity on key features like the makeup products.

Comparing this multi layer approach to single layer bitmap images as discussed by Davison reveals some intriguing differences. While single layer bitmaps are straightforward, my method embraces uniqueness through layering different elements together. This allows for richer storytelling within an image, as if each layer adds its own narrative to the overall blog. The result is not just visually appealing but also functional because it conveys different aspects of cosmetic marketing trends all at once.

My header image does more than just look pretty, it resonates with my audience's aspirations while adhering to legal standards regarding image reuse. By using certain editing techniques to make a multi layered masterpiece instead of relying on simpler methods, I've created an inviting space that reflects both personal passion and professional goals within the ever evolving world of cosmetic and fashion marketing.
